COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. -- A Flathead company says it is working on a new dell inspiron 1545 battery system that could change the way the world uses energy, and add a couple hundred jobs to the Flathead Valley.
Zinc Air Inc. moved its headquarters and laboratory to Columbia Falls a few months ago. The company designs compaq presario 1200 battery, and is working on a new technology that will be capable of storing the energy produced at power plants. Directors say this ability is significant because most of the electricity currently produced at power plants is sent straight from the generator to the power grid.
“We might be able to differ building a few power plants,” says Sr. Vice President Kevin Witt. “We can overcome ingestion on the grid; we can allow companies or individuals or utilities to make better use of the alternate energy sources. If the wind is blowing at night, we can store that electricity and allow it to come back onto the grid when it's needed during the day.”
Witt says the company expects the new toshiba pa3383u-1brs battery system to be available to energy companies by the end of the year.
